In her show 'Observation Post' Nicola Pomery will be presenting videos and related drawings. The former, a succession of one-minute fragments shot systematically during the working day from her window, record and re-codify the life outside as an archaeologist might the items reclaimed from site (sic). Nearby a series of automatic drawings is triggered by the intermittent landing and take-off of birds on the lawn in front of her (the paper the exact proportions of the garden). Thus in the videos the artist re-organises the world perhaps counter-intuitively, dividing and classifying; while in the drawings it is the world itself organises her mark-making - against the impulse of the observing artist.
