PAUL SAVAGE ‘Artifice and Immediacy’

6 – 29 May

A solo show of new paintings by Paul Savage. The impact of the highly coloured and elaborately stylised car crashes that were in Savage’s Royal College degree show some years ago can still be felt as he subjects art historical sources to compression and information loss, while looting riches. His paintings derive from Velasquez and found photos to video and computer games, with image dropout opening doors into the past as well as the future. The information age is in collision with the Western Canon. A sometimes disturbing, even threatening realism collaged from our cultural debris.
